Hire an HR generalist or HR manager who has broad HR experience and the ability to manage multiple projects. An important part of solidifying your foundation is to develop your job descriptions. These job descriptions will be useful in determining your pay structure and conducting market data analysis. They give an employee a clear and concise resource to be used as a guide for job performance and provide you with a starting point for training and development plans.
Develop your company policies and your Employee Handbook. An up-to-date and comprehensive Handbook is crucial for both the employees to understand company goals and expectations, and to ensure HR compliance and liability prevention for the employer. You also need to ensure that you have all mandatory posters displayed in a prominent location.
Work with HR to develop your pay structure and your staffing plan for attracting the right talent. Consider your compensation and benefits package. What benefits are mandatory, such as workers’ compensation insurance and unemployment insurance, and what voluntary benefits do you want to provide that will help attract and retain top talent? Who is your competition? When marketing, it is important to highlight the features that set your company apart from the competition.
These are just a few examples of establishing and maintaining a firm HR foundation. Are you wondering if your organization is compliant with the myriad of HR laws and regulations, and if your policies and procedures follow best practices for compliance and employee retention? We can help! Rocket City HR Consulting will conduct an HR Compliance Audit, Employee Handbook Review, and Poster Compliance inspection to make sure your company has a strong, compliant foundation from which to launch your business initiatives.
