What we do
Our History
Rocket City HR Consulting was born out of two wishes: wanting to help businesses take care of their employees and valuing family. After serving 5 ½ years in the Air Force and 5 years at the Sacramento Police Department, Samantha Brinkley discovered that she loved Human Resources and couldn’t picture herself doing anything else. HR, she discovered, is the place where business intersects with human lives. She found that fascinating, challenging, and rewarding.
Family is also equally important to her. She took 4 years off when her children were young. She had only been at her dream job for 8 months as HR Manager at a Best Places to Work award-winning company in Sacramento, when she learned that her family needed to move to Huntsville, Alabama, a.k.a, the Rocket City. Her boys were just 2 and 4 years old and the family would be moving to a new city.
Samantha found that she had a decision to make. After settling in, she decided to do something that surprised her. Instead of taking a full time job, she launched Rocket City HR in 2011, when her youngest child began pre-kindergarten.
In the beginning, she was the sole employee and would help companies on a part-time or project basis as an HR Manager or consultant. She found the work exciting and enjoyed being able to make a difference for businesses and employees. Samantha’s dedication to compliance, teaching, and helping people, eventually grew into a business with multiple employees
Over the years, Rocket City HR has grown and increased in our capacity to help businesses of all sizes in all industries make a difference, one employee at a time.
